How To Make A Weather Forecast
Time: 1:15 - 2:15 PM
Can’t decide “weather” or not to hold that summer concert
indoors or out, close the pool because of thunder or move
those camp kids inside! Learn the history of how weather
forecasting evolved into the science it is today. Forecasting
has come a long way in the last 100 years. The development
of super computers, satellites and ocean monitoring
networks have all played an important roll in making the
forecast much more accurate. You'll learn what web sites to
go to so you can make you're own predictions! Plus you will
see first hand how the weather program is presented each
night on television from an experienced TV meteorologist.
You'll never look at a television weather forecast the same
way after seeing "How to make a weather forecast".

Policy and Environmental Changes
Vs. Programming ….to address Health Issues in our Communities
Time: 2:30 - 4:00 PM
In this era of increasing overweight and obesity rates, community
organizations and local government entities often institute
programs targeted at individuals, to help them become more
active and change their diets in order to lose weight. While
these efforts are laudable, they often have only short-term
success, because the environments, or surroundings, in which
these individuals lives have not changed, making it difficult to
maintain new, healthy habits once the programs are completed.
This is where policy change comes in. Policies have a
much broader, more permanent effect on the whole environment.
But the differences between programs and policy are
often misunderstood.
