Speakers Wanted!
2008 Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association
48th Annual State Conference and Trade Show

CRPA invites you to prepare and submit a proposal for a session at the 2008 State Conference being held at the beautiful, state of the art Mohegan Sun Hotel and Conference Center in Uncasville CT, on November 24th and 25th.

Submission Deadline: May 26, 2008

Session Content
Your session should be consistent with the theme of this year’s conference,
"Parks & Recreation the Heartbeat of Your Community"

Each session should include information that:
• Is relevant and practical to the field
• Provides the opportunity to share and network with fellow professionals in the field
• Addresses new ideas, creative problem solving, practical tools, and innovative techniques

Presentation Length
• 1 hour workshop session
• 1.5 hour workshop session

Target Audience
CRPA State Conference attendees include directors, supervisors, managers, program coordinators, key administrative staff, support and frontline staff, and students from both public and private organizations in the field of parks and recreation. The audience ranges from new and part-time employees to professionals with more than 20 years of experience.

Submission Criteria
Proposals for sessions will be evaluated on the relevance of the topic to the conference theme and the target audience. Our goal is to design an overall well balanced program with sessions emphasizing the conference vision relating to all of the following management areas:

Topics of Interest
Administration, Adventure, Aquatics, Community, Day Camp, Golf, Health & Heart, Marketing, Management, Parks & Facilities, Programming, Seniors, and Therapeutic Recreation.

CRPA Speaker Expense Policy
• CRPA members who are asked to speak do so as a benefit to the Association and their professional commitment to the field of parks and recreation. There is no compensation or reimbursement.
• Speaker who are employed in parks and recreation; students majoring in parks an recreation or individuals serving as members of parks and recreation boards and commissions are not eligible for speaking fees.
• Speakers outside of CT may pre-negotiate reimbursement for travel, lodging and meals.
• Speakers outside of the field of parks and recreation who have been invited to present may request
reimbursement of actual pre-negotiated travel, lodging, meals and a speaker fees.

How to Submit your Proposal:
Save the attached "CRPA Speakers Wanted" form to your computer
Complete the form and print a copy for your records
Click the “Submit by Email” button on the top of the form (requires Adobe Reader 6.0 or higher). Please do not attempt to save and email as an attachment!
If you choose to submit your proposal as a hard copy, please type your text in separate document and mail to Rayae Geci, Program Committee Chair, 50 Winding Trails Drive, Farmington CT 06032. Be sure to include responses to all fields on the form.
