CRPA ...Your Professional Parks and Recreation Network
The Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, development and improvement of all recreation and parks services within the state of Connecticut.

Dating back to the creation of CRPA in 1949, we have always taken pride in our professionalism and our mission to promote public awareness of and support for the social, personal, environmental and economic benefits of leisure services and recreational facilities in the lives of individuals and in the community.

CRPA now boasts a membership of over 500 professionals in cities and towns across Connecticut. Our members represent agencies, practitioners, students, businesses and interested citizens in all levels of service in the parks and recreation field, including public, private, therapeutic, commercial and educational settings.

Professional Certification
The Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association has established a volunteer certification plan for parks and recreation personnel throughout the state. The purpose of the plan is to establish a measurable standard for the recreation, park resources, and leisure service professional in Connecticut.

Certification may be established in four categories:
CPRP, Certified Park and Recreation Professional
PPRP, Provisional Park and Recreation Professional
APRP, Associate Park and Recreation Professional

Scholarships
CRPA, through its Awards and Scholarships Committee, annually awards the Dorothy G. Mullen Memorial Scholarship and the George Sanford/CRPA Scholarship to deserving candidates who demonstrate promise in achieving a professional career in the parks and recreation field. A third scholarship program for professional development is also offered.
