National Playground Safety Institute
Sponsored by the National Recreation and Parks Association this NPSI course is the most comprehensive training program on playground hazard identification and risk management methods offered anywhere. Advanced reading and fifteen hours of training from nationally known playground safety experts will prepare participants to sit for the Certified Playground Safety Inspector examination offered at the culmination of the certification course.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, it is estimated that each year over 205,850 injuries occur on playgrounds and approximately fifteen children die from playground related injuries.
Topics for the course include: Identifying hazards on playgrounds; developing risk management tools; importance of a comprehensive playground safety program from a legal perspective; test methods for entrapments, protrusions and entanglement.
This Course is a must for municipalities, playground manufacturers and installers, park and recreation agencies and others responsible for playgrounds. .
Schedule:
Class Times: First Day check in: Tuesday 7:30-8a.m
Tuesday and Wednesday classes are at 8 am—5 pm.
Exam Times: Thursday check in: 8:00 am.
The exam begins as soon as everyone gets checked in.
Examinees have two hours to take the exam.
Class Size: A minimum of 40 is required to run the class a maximum of 65. Registration is on a first-paid first –serve basis. Notification of class cancellation will be two weeks prior

CEU Credits: 1.2 CEU Credits (CEU Fee is included in registration fee)
Pre-Course Study Materials: You will receive written resource materials to study approximately three weeks before the course. This assumes registration by March 4th. If CRPA receives your registration after March 4th. you may request express delivery at additional cost to you. NPSI does not recommend that you attempt to take exam unless you have access to the materials three weeks prior to the course.
Computer Based Testing: The option to take the CPSI exam via computer based testing is now available through the NRPA. To obtain additional information please visit www.nrpa.org under CPSI Please be advised if you register to take the examination with the course, you will not receive a refund to take your initial exam via computer based testing at a later date. Please decide now if you would like to take the exam on Day 3 of the course or via a Computer Based Exam at a later date.
A $25 per month service charge will apply to any accounts with a balance due one month from program.
